The La Verne baseball team swept its way through the Bud Knight Memorial Invitational Tournament last weekend in Walla Walla, Washington, highlighted by a significant comeback win against the Whitman Blues, 12-10, after a rain delay Saturday at Borleske Stadium.
The baseball team won 17-5 in a seven inning mercy rule after pitching settled in against rival Whittier on April 15 at Ben Hines Field. The win opened an explosive three game sweep of the Poets.
The baseball team continued to dominate in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play as they advanced their record to 9-1 after a mercy-ruled seven inning game against Caltech. The first place Leopards outplayed the Beavers, 16-0, April 1 at Ben Hines Field.
The La Verne baseball team’s offense took control of the game in a 28-6 blow out win against Whittier in a non-conference match-up on Friday at Ben Hines Field.
The baseball team took two games from the visiting Centenary Gentlemen from Louisiana this week, including a close 9-7 win Sunday evening and a come-from-behind 12-8 victory Wednesday. The Leopards improved to 5-1-1 on the season as they await the opening of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
