Baseball falters in SCIAC tourney

The La Verne baseball team came out strong against the Occidental Tigers, winning 2-1 in game one of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament on Friday, but fell flat on Saturday – falling to Chapman 4-1, then to Cal Lutheran 5-1 in an elimination game.

Leos sweep Poets, win SCIAC title

The La Verne baseball team won its 21st Southern California Intercollegite Athletic Conference title with a three-game sweep of Whittier last weekend. The Leopards traveled to Whittier Friday to beat the Poets, 9-6. Then the two teams matched up for a doubleheader Saturday at Ben Hines Field, which La Verne swept, 10-4 and 7-6.

Leos sweep Pomona-Pitzer series

Sophomore pitcher Cody Norman and the Leopards’ offense carried La Verne to a 8-0 win against Pomona-Pitzer in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader at Ben Hines Field. La Verne dominated Pomona-Pitzer over the weekend, sweeping the three-game series and taking sole possession of second place in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
