With a mission of preserving history and the quality of life, the city of La Verne is planning to remodel the square at the corner of “D” and Third streets and dedicate it to John ”Skip” Mainiero, former University of La Verne vice-president of finance and administration.
In an effort to unite the entire downtown area of La Verne and encourage alternate forms of transportation, a transit center, recently named Old Town Plaza is set to open in late March. The plaza is being built by the city at “D” Street and Bonita Avenue.
Should students have to risk injury to get to class, the library, their residence hall or even the neighborhood convenience store? The obvious answer is no, yet students and faculty alike must gamble with their lives each and every time they need to cross the intersection of Second and “D” Streets.
On Friday morning, Oct. 21, at approximately 12:30, two ULV students, sophomores Tamara Lien and Mike Whipple, were struck by a car at the intersection of “D” and Third Streets. The driver of the car was senior Eugene Kim.
