New COVID exposure law to protect workers via transparency

If a California workplace puts employees or customers in danger from exposure to COVID-19, that workplace must communicate to those employees and customers immediately that they have been exposed, under a new state law that went into effect last month. 

Commentary: I didn’t set out to be an essential worker

Usually grocery store workers hear “thank you” after helping someone find those hidden spices or something from the back. Now I’m greeted daily with “Thank you for helping everyone” during the current circumstances.

Essential workers deserve essential pay – every day

As essential grocery workers are spending their time ringing customers up, restocking the shelves and working through this pandemic, many of them have been receiving additional pay – sometimes called “hero pay” – to compensate for the health risks they have had to take on the job over the past weeks. 

Protesters should just stay home

A slew of protests have begun against state-wide stay at home orders as many protestors claim the mandates are both unconstitutional and unnecessary when in reality these stay at home orders are quite literally the difference between life and death for many when it comes to flattening the curve amid the coronavirus pandemic.
