Sophomore shortstop Anthony Salcedo’s extra inning heroics helped the Leopards open their conference schedule with a bang March 4. His 11th inning single drove in sophomore pinch runner Garrett Halbeisen for a 5-4 walk-off win over the Redlands Bulldogs at Ben Hines Field. 

Leopards hold off late Centenary comeback

The baseball team took two games from the visiting Centenary Gentlemen from Louisiana this week, including a close 9-7 win Sunday evening and a come-from-behind 12-8 victory Wednesday. The Leopards improved to 5-1-1 on the season as they await the opening of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

The baseball team pitched dominantly in a commanding 6-1 win against Chapman in a non-conference match-up Saturday at Ben Hines Field.

After dropping the first game of their series in Redlands on Friday, the Leopards sent their seniors off triumphantly by winning both games of the doubleheader on Senior Night on Saturday. It was the first series win for La Verne on the year and put their final record at 4-5 for the pandemic-shortened 2021 season.

Leopards come out swinging in game one but drop series to Chapman

After winning their pandemic-delayed season opener by a score of 12-1, La Verne would drop the next two games to lose the season series against Chapman on Saturday and Sunday.
