The Harris Art Gallery opened the annual student art exhibit on April 29, showing the collected works of University of La Verne students taking classes in the Art Department.
Displaying one of her paintings in the “Rush to Meaning” series, Joella Jean Mahoney, professor of art, explains the use of diagonal lines to bring out the meaning of movement, energy and excitement.
In a dedication and grand opening ceremony attended by more than 400 people, the Wilson Library and Landis Academic Center was admired and celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 3.
“For the first time in 104 years the University of La Verne has a fine art gallery to stimulate students to honor the arts and to be challenged and affirmed by them,” said Professor of Art Joella Jean Mahoney of the new Harris Art Gallery located in the Landis Academic Center.
