In a dedication and grand opening ceremony attended by more than 400 people, the Wilson Library and Landis Academic Center was admired and celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 3.
“For the first time in 104 years the University of La Verne has a fine art gallery to stimulate students to honor the arts and to be challenged and affirmed by them,” said Professor of Art Joella Jean Mahoney of the new Harris Art Gallery located in the Landis Academic Center.
The Wilson Library and Landis Academic Center opening and dedication last Saturday in front of the Wilson Library was open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the University.
About seven years ago, Art Professor Joella Jean Mahoney left full-time teaching at the University of La Verne Art Department to devote more time to her professional art work. The devotion to her art is seen through the petite and lively woman’s sparkling eyes of life.
ULV’s Board of Trustees has named the University’s newest building, currently under construction, the Landis Academic Center in honor of Richard and Beth Landis, prominent supporters of the University.
