Despite being swept by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at Campus West, the softball team still secured the third seed in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason tournament for the first time since 2022.
The Leopards are 11-17 overall and 5-4 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after dropping five straight to Williams, Elmhurst and Redlands.
La Verne won a three-game series against Whittier, defeating the Poets, 8-2, on March 6 at Palmer Field, and then splitting a doubleheader Saturday at Campus West, winning game one, 5-3, before dropping game two, 14-11.
The Leopards’ softball team was unable to stop the Chapman Panthers from sweeping them in their series beginning on April 18. The series kicked off with a 7-0 loss in Orange, followed by losses of 7-2 and 6-5 for La Verne on Saturday at Campus West.
