The Campus Times reached a milestone this week – 100 years of serving as a watchdog for not only the University of La Verne but also our local community. Through obstacles, brief hiatuses and award-winning highlights, the paper has established a legacy. And it is a staple of the community.
For the second year in a row, the Campus Times took the the two highest honors – along with numerous other awards – at the Society of Professional Journalists Inland Southern Calforina Pro Chapter 2004 Excellence in Journalism Awards Banquet Saturday.
The University of La Verne’s Campus Times this month won its fifth and sixth consecutive gold medal awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The awards were for overall publication quality in fall 2003 and spring 2004 semesters.
So, this is my final column for the Campus Times, and I could waste the whole thing talking about myself or relating how much I have enjoyed my tenure here.
