Man detained in sexual battery case

At around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, campus safety detained an unnamed male wandering around the Athletic Pavilion. The suspect, who has been spotted on campus in the past, was later found by Campus Safety hiding in a second floor restroom.

On March 9, the La Verne Police Department reported that they had arrested a former ULV student for falsifying threats made to herself and others, for electronic impersonation, perjury, and for filing a false police report. The race-based attacks the student had reported forced the University to cancel classes last year and devote substantial resources and time to addressing the alleged events.

Former student charged with faking racist incidents

A former University of La Verne student has been charged for making racially motivated threats and for posing as a victim of these threats, and an alleged racially motivated hate crime during spring semester 2019, La Verne police announced during a Monday press conference.

Shooting may be gang related

La Verne police are still investigating a midday shooting Wednesday that left one victim in stable condition with wounds to his upper and lower torso. At around 1 p.m., residents on First and A streets reported the sounds of gunfire they described as a flurry of about 10 shots.

Student struck by car on D Street

The La Verne Police Department, with the La Verne Fire Department, arrived on scene Monday evening after a report came in that a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was jaywalking on D Street, just north of Arrow Highway, near the access road into the parking structure.

Alleged hate crime case to wrap up in coming weeks

The La Verne Police Department is close to closing the case on the hate crimes that rocked the University of La Verne campus last semester.
