Florida’s house bill 1557, which is being called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by some, seeks to limit discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools, which would be incredibly damaging to LGBTQ students and hinder their education.
The University of La Verne hosted a Transgender Remembrance Day virtual event Wednesday, to honor the trans lives lost this year. The event featured photographer and filmmaker Henry Horenstein who screened his film “Blitto Underground” before 35 La Verne community members who attended via Zoom.
An amendment to the California Education Code, the Menstrual Equity for All Act of 2021 was signed into law on October 8, requiring that free menstrual products be available in all public schools from grades six to 12, as well as at all Cal States, UCs and community colleges across the state.
