A sage gathering and blessing event in front of the Ludwick Center on March 9 drew in many students who were eager to learn about the uses and importance of sage.
Al Clark, professor of humanities, presented a lecture called “Brethren Heritage at ULV: 129 years of Shifting Interpretations” as part of the weekly La Verne Academy Lecture series at noon Tuesday at the Quay Davis Executive Board Room.
A profound overview of Dia de los Muertos was followed by the construction of the altars or ofrendas on Oct. 28 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Ludwick Sacred Space. It was presented by Jose Miguel Hernandez, a junior educational studies major, and Christian Bracho, an associate professor of teacher education.
Tikkun Olam International hosted a service and “Sleepover Under the Stars” in honor of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot outside the Ludwick Center on Oct. 7.
Holocaust survivor Gabriella Karin returned to the University of La Verne on Sept. 22 to share her story and her art to about 40 students and faculty members in the Campus Center Ballroom. The lecture was hosted by the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and the Tikkun Olam club.
Roughly 20 students, faculty and staff gathered for the University’s third annual Rites of Passage ceremony Sept. 9 in the Ludwick Center Sacred Space to honor community, rich spiritual and cultural African traditions.
