La Verne will lose another outstanding Leopard athlete come the end of the semester, as pitcher and infielder Mark Larini has played his last game for the University.

Matt Baudino, Donovan Petta, Sergio Munoz, Aaron Coopman and Joe Buckley are honored along with fellow seniors before La Verne’s game against Caltech on Friday. As part of Senior Day, each graduate was called by name and had his accomplishments, both on and off the field, announced to the crowd. Senior pitcher Mark Larini did now allow a rainy afternoon to affect his performance as he pitched an outstanding two-hit complete game shutout against Whittier last Friday at Ben Hines Field.

La Verne baseball looks to take back SCIAC

The rain started in the fourth inning and did not let up last Friday at Ben Hines Field, cutting La Verne’s home conference opener short and handing them a 2-1 loss to Redlands.

Michael Lightenberg, of the Chino Ice Service, brings ice to the empty ice chest at Circle K. Lightenberg has delivered ice over the last few days which have been the hottest on record. Circle K has become a refuge from the heat for students and locals alike, with its supply of ice, slushies and other frozen commodities.

Record high temperatures hit Southern California

Seniors honored at last home game

The baseball team ended its season with a 15-7 loss to Cal Lutheran on Saturday, and for nine seniors it would be the last time they put on the Leopard green and orange.
