With increasing competition, and sports teams practicing – or at least conditioning – for extended periods beyond their competitive seasons, some student athletes here struggle to balance their academic classes with work and their intense practice schedules.
The men’s water polo team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Chapman 19-13 in the opening game of the Gary Troyer Water Polo Tournament at the La Verne Aquatic Center on Friday.
The La Verne men’s water polo team faced off in a scrimmage on Saturday against the Grossmont Griffins where the Leopards dominated the Griffins for four periods and finished the match with a comfortable 20-9 victory.
