As the seasons change, so do the sports. It is time to lay down the pads, bring down the nets, lace up the Jordans and, of course, it is time to hit the pools for some swimming and diving.
With back-to-back meets at Pepperdine University last Friday and the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, the University of La Verne's swimming and diving teams showed promise in early season competition.
With little margin for error, they stand on their toes at the edge the platform, ignoring the distance below them as they prepare to poetically fall from dangerous heights.
Responsibility and patience are virtues that Mario Guerrero has gained in the 22 years of his life. Next year, he will need those factors to thrive during his final year at the University of La Verne.
