22 students kick off PA program

The first cohort of the Physician Assistant Program at the University of La Verne, which was granted provisional accreditation through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant earlier this year, kicked off the first week of classes Aug. 26.

Physician assistant program receives accreditation

The University of La Verne’s physician assistant program has received provisional accreditation through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.  “The ARC-PA is one of the most difficult accreditations for universities to receive,” Provost Jonathan Reed said. “It is an extremely difficult and thorough process, and the evaluation is very strict.” The first cohort of the graduate level program will include 22 students and is set to begin studies Aug. 27. 

AAUP report calls for shared governance

The University of La Verne chapter of the American Association of University Professors released a statement last week calling attention to the University’s increasing “corporatization” and the need for true shared governance between faculty and administration to improve the student experience.

Program to train physician assistants

The University hopes over the next several years to offer a physician assistant graduate program, in response to a growing national demand for health care professionals.
