Donna Bentley, a former librarian of the Wilson Library at the University of La Verne, died Jan. 19 at age 65. 

The spring commencement coordinators hosted an in-person Grad Box Pick-Up parade at the University of La Verne campus Saturday, where graduating seniors received their graduation gift boxes and took pictures in their caps and gowns.

Professor of communications Mike Laponis and 2020 broadcast radio alum Josue Arellano both won awards at the Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts for work broadcast on Leo FM in 2020, the BEA announced earlier this month.

Eric Bishop, a University of La Verne alumnus, who also held several positions at La Verne – including associate dean of academic advising, journalism professor and Campus Times adviser – was recently appointed president of Ohlone Community College in Fremont, California. He starts July 6. 

Three University of La Verne graduates have been awarded for their work in the Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts.

Jeimi Herrera, junior promotions director of LeoFM, and Christopher Norman, senior program director of LeoFM, both won second place in separate categories at the 2018 Broadcast Education Associations Festival of Media Arts this month.
