The United States currently holds the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world and that number is growing by the day, making it dire that we all treat this pandemic with serious precautionary measures before it is too late.
Justice for marijuana offenders
Cynthia Nixon has made legalizing marijuana her priority in her campaign for governor of New York. Along with the legalization of pot, Nixon wants to see reparations for those who have already been charged with crimes involving marijuana. Nixon believes this would be a step in the right direction for the criminal justice system and racial inequality. Finally, someone plans to act on the disparity in arrests among marijuana users.
Free tuition plan is positive step
On April 9, New York’s state legislature approved Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to provide free college tuition to New York residents who are full-time students and earn less than $100,000 annually. In 2018, the cap will increase to $110,000 and then $125,000 in 2019.

The leaderless protest group “Occupy Wall Street” has entered its third week of demonstrations. The protests, which began on Sept. 17, have for the most part been peaceful, drawing in crowds of thousands to New York City’s Zuccotti Park.
9/11 cemented in history books
A decade later, 9/11 has begun to evolve from a current event to part of American history. Right now only 21 states mention the terror attacks of Sept. 11 in their educational standards, some provide lesson plans, but their teachers are not legally required to follow them or even teach it at all.
