Bonita students honor Parkland victims

While middle- and high school students across the country walked out of class in support of stricter gun control laws, over 700 Bonita High School students chose to use Wednesday’s nationwide event to memorialize the victims of school shootings. The demonstration took place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, on school grounds, and was part of a nationwide effort largely organized by Women’s March Youth Empower, an organization that encourages political change in communities and creates toolkits for event organizers.

Student detained after gun threats

Nicholas Ceballos, a freshman behavioral science major, was arrested and removed from his Studebaker-Hanawalt dormitory room at approximately 12:38 a.m. Tuesday for allegedly making criminal threats to his former high school. Ceballos was released from West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga after posting a $50,000 bail that same day.

Parkland reignites fight for gun control

In the wake of the shooting in Parkland, Florida, two weeks ago, many of the students who attend Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are speaking out on how gun control laws must be reformed to avoid such tragedies in the future.
