Some of the University of La Verne’s science labs are getting long-awaited and much needed makeovers.

Megan Peralez, 2017 graduate in photography, senior physics major Justine Alandy-dy and senior sociology major Mung Kay “Karen” Shum won first place Dean’s Awards in Arts and Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences categories, respectively, at the seventh annual College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Awards ceremony, honoring top senior projects, Wednesday in the Harris Gallery.

The University of La Verne has partnered with Washington University School of Engineering to offer a dual degree program pairing engineering with another liberal arts discipline.

Associate Professor of Physics David Chappell and Physics Laboratory Manager B.J. Haddad set up two solar telescopes outside of Founders Hall Monday to observe the progress of Mercury passing over the sun.

The Physics department set up camp with telescopes, solar filters and a projector for a few hours and invited anyone who walked by to view the moon partially obstruct the sun.
