The Pomona Pride Center hosted the Pomona Valley State of the LGBTQIA+ Community at the Pomona Unified School District auditorium to discuss LGBTQIA+ issues and solutions to implement in the area on Tuesday evening.
The University of La Verne LaFetra College of Education received a $400,000 grant from the Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity, which will go toward the LaFetra College of Education’s efforts in diversifying the teaching profession in the classroom and within the surrounding region.
The University of La Verne’s Enactus team gave students, faculty, and their family members a preview of their team presentation Wednesday in Morgan Auditorium before they compete in the Enactus National Exposition in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ganesha High School senior Omar Mendez, Pomona High School senior Brenda Gomez and Garey High School seniors Melanie Andreo and Josue Garcia – recipients of the Latino and Latina Roundtable of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valley’s social justice scholarship – lead the 16th annual Cesar Chavez Pilgrimage Saturday morning.
The Pomona Cultural Arts Commission worked for the last two years to bring awareness to locally owned shops in the downtown and arts district area. This year, they decorated 30 businesses with blue and white balloons outside their doors to participate in Small Business Saturday.
