Red Zone calls for further awareness

The first several weeks of the academic year is often referred to as the Red Zone, a period of time between move-in day and Thanksgiving break when college students – first year students and women in particular –  are most likely to experience sexual assault.

Program focused on sexual assault prevention

The Honors Program hosted a date rape drugs information session on Nov. 17 in the Sara and Michael Abraham Campus Center, where survivors discussed their experiences and the effect it has had on their lives.

Rape definition update is progress

Ever since the Federal Bureau of Investigation proposed to change its definition of “rape” in 2011, removing the word “forcible” and making it inclusive to all genders, the number of reported rapes has increased. This change forces us to reevaluate what society, especially victims, define as rape.
