The La Verne women’s water polo team used a strong defensive second half to pull away from Whittier and get its first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season Wednesday, 10-6.
The women’s water polo team did not score in the third quarter, as it suffered a 17-4 loss to UC San Diego in the fourth game of the Claremont Convergence Tournament Saturday at Haldeman Pool.
Freshman Valerie Keehmer, a driver for the University of La Verne women’s water polo team, scored three goals, including the game winner, in the 7-6 overtime victory against Sonoma State April 4.
It was a showcase of talent Wednesday night when the University of La Verne's baseball team defeated Chapman University, the No. 2 team in the nation for Division III.
