J. Rodney Davis, credited with developing and then directing the University of La Verne Campus Accelerated Program for Adults (CAPA) under La Verne College President Leland Newcomer, died at 5:15 a.m., May 25, at the age of 80.

In August mental health professionals received training of a new curriculum which will help mental health professionals treat people in multicultural communities. The new curriculum is based on research developed by psychological professionals.
Tri-City Mental Health Center – which filed for bankruptcy in February – is continuing negotiations with the State of California and the County of Los Angeles to develop a plan to reinstate programs recently cut for cost reasons.
Despite severe cutbacks to the children welfare industry in recent years, the LeRoy Haynes Center for Children and Family Services is negotiating with Los Angeles County for funding and looking to the future expansion of programs.
