A season filled with rollercoaster like results came to a crashing end when the sixth-ranked La Verne women’s volleyball team was easily dismantled by No. 7 Wisconsin- Whitewater, 3-0 (30-27, 30-18, 30-24), Nov. 18 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va.
The women's volleyball team traveled to Elmhurst, Illinois Sept. 13 and 14 to compete in an eight team tournament, where they earned a split record of 2-2.
Overcoming a season filled with challenges and setbacks, La Verne clinched their first NCAA Division III National Title since 1982 by defeating No. 1 ranked University of Wisconsin Whitewater and breaking its 43-game home winning streak that dated back to 1999.
Dedication, perseverance and heart made up the winning formula for the University of La Verne women's volleyball team as it defeated both Juniata University and the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater to become the Division III National Champions.
In its first trip to the NCAA Final Four since 1985, the University of La Verne's women's volleyball team will compete at 5 p.m. today against Juniata College (Pa.) in a semifinal match.
So far, four men from the University of La Verne track and field team have qualified. Next week, they will challenge approximately 670 athletes in the Chicago area. Everyone there will be gunning for the same honor: to become a national champion.
