The Athletic Training Student Club hosted a fundraiser in the Johnson Family Plaza for the Brain Injury Association of California to help raise awareness, educate about injuries and advocate for those affected by brain injuries. The University of La Verne received a $2 million donation from regional real estate developer and philanthropist Randall Lewis for the establishment of the Randall Lewis Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Social Impact, which will focus on economic development and opportunities for ULV and the surrounding communities.
Marilyn Oliver, professor of kinesiology emerita, reflected on her career at the University of La Verne and spoke about her experience of being one of the first head athletic trainers of the country during her last lecture held via WebEx on Tuesday. Oliver served as the chairwoman of the kinesiology department for the previous three years.
The University of La Verne took the annual Scholarship Gala – traditionally a black tie dinner event – to a virtual realm this year, and still raised $605,000 in donations for the scholarship fund, exceeding the goal of $100,000 for Saturday’s event.
