The original version “Families receive benefits from community wellness event” (Sept. 1, 2023) incorrectly described Parents Anonymous and CalHOPE as part of the same organization. They are separate organizations that co-sponsored the Fun in the Sun Community Wellness event.

In an earlier version of “California Coastwalk is a must-try adventure” (Sept. 8, 2023), Coastwalk member Linda Schwaberow’s age was misstated. She is 75 years old.

In the story “Faculty lecture quiets the stigma on silence” (Oct. 23), silence was incorrectly defined. It is the lack of audible signals. Value claiming was mischaracterized. Value claiming is related to the increased possibility of receiving a better deal. Participants in the second study were described as taking on roles in pairs but were instead randomly assigned conditions and then watched videos and took the perspective of either actor-silence, partner silence and non-silence. Those using the actor-silence condition claimed more value. The Campus Times regrets the errors.

In the story “SCIAC champs place 8th at NCAAs” in the May 14 issue, the results of the NCAA Men’s Division III National Championships were given incorrectly. The University of La Verne men’s golf team finished fifth in the team standings in the four-day tournament. Mitch Fedorka finished five under-par and second in the individual standings.

In the story “Geishas’ identity seen through time,” which ran on page 2 of the April 9 edition, the Japanese Pleasure Quarters, were mistakenly referred to as “headquarters.” In that same article, the phrase  “if a geisha was to have sexual relations with a customer, she would have to resort to prostitution” should have read “a geisha could lose her job for having a sexual relationship with a customer.”

The story “Faculty approves 18-unit semester” in the Nov. 6, 2009, edition of the Campus Times misstated some of the background on the proposal to allow students to take 18 units per semester. The proposal was originally passed by the Undergraduate Academic Policies Committee in May. UGAP Chairman Kenneth Marcus then presented it to the Faculty Senate and Faculty Assembly, which passed the proposal in October. The Campus Times regrets the error.
