‘One Book, One University’

Brando Skyhorse, author of “Take this Man: A Memoir,” and associate professor of creative writing at Indiana University, is this year’s One Book, One University author.

Skyhorse will give a students-only lecture at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 9 in the Athletics Pavilion.

His keynote lecture will be at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in Morgan Auditorium, followed by a book signing.

Admission is free.

‘Encounters’

The University of La Verne art department is hosting “Encounters,” seven temporary installations by different members of the studio art faculty, throughout the fall 2019 semester. 

Each installation will be on display for 11 days through Dec. 13 on the second floor of the Arts and Communications Building, near room 212.

Admission is free.

‘Imagine’

The Claremont Museum of Art exhibit “James Strombotne: Imagine” features art from one of the last remaining still active Claremont artists from the 1950s and 1960s. 

Strombotne’s work displays an abstract response to the physical world. 

The museum is open Friday through Sunday noon to 4 p.m. 

The exhibit runs through Dec. 1.

Chalk Art Festival

The Cultural Arts Commission of Pomona will host its 12th annual chalk art festival at the Shaun Diamond Plaza in downtown Pomona on Nov. 10.

All ages and skill levels are welcome. 

The registration deadline is Nov. 5.
