More than 10,000 participants gathered for the annual noncompetitive Bubble Run 5K Saturday morning at the Fairplex.
The Bubble Run is a family friendly event where participants can run or walk through different stations filled with colorful foam. Three different foam stations were spread evenly throughout the course.
There also were food vendors, live music and dancing dancing and an afterparty.
Yvette Moore, campus safety director at Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, said the event was about more than completing the race.
“Everyone is there to have fun,” Moore said. “For some it’s about the challenge, but for us it was more about hanging out with family and doing something together, healthy.”
Claudia Moreno, a student and billing assistant at Armstrong Law Group, said she hopes participants leave the event knowing they are capable of accomplishing their goals.
“Hey, you know what? I completed something. I did it,” Moreno said.
“I honestly came here with no plan to run, I just wanted to play in bubbles, dance to the DJ and enjoy good food,” Elijah Akumbom, a junior at the University of La Verne.
Participants bubble run flair, including 2026 tour t-shirt, sunglasses and bright blue finisher medals.
“I think everyone should do the Bubble Run,” participant Shery Youssef said. “I think you feel a lot more energetic afterwards.”
After crossing the finish line, participants got snow cones, agua frescas and ice cream. Kids and parents danced in foam at the DJ station.
