A new restaurant for La Verne, the Haven Haus Cafe, offers breakfast and lunch options plus a coffee bar and full bar for mimosas, margaritas, sangria and more.
It opened this summer and is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
Food offerings range from classic eggs benedict to spicy jalapeño egg burger and spans between $10 to $16 dollars.
Besides various coffee drinks, the cafe offers matcha and teas where drinks range from $6 to $10 dollars.
Alcoholic beverages such as the mimosa flight and sangrias range from $8 to $20 dollars.
The La Verne location is an addition to the restaurant’s two current locations in Rancho Cucamonga and Temecula.
“We have a big clientele based in Rancho Cucamonga and a lot of them are from the La Verne area,” owner Daniel Torres said when explaining how Haven Haus in La Verne came to be.
“The name ‘Haven’ comes from Haven Avenue which is located in Rancho Cucamonga,” Torres said.
“We wanted to make people feel comfortable, where all ages are welcome, ” Torres said as he described what he hopes people feel when eating at Haven Haus. “This is the best response we’ve had from the three cities, everyone has been so welcoming.”
He explained the response the La Verne community has had on its opening has had high marks and a significant response since opening in July.
“The Mediterranean plate is really good, but if you want something filling that won’t feel too heavy, the protein bowl is my go-to,” said Torres when describing his favorites from the lunch menu.
“We’ve been super busy every single day of the week and have lots of regulars,” said Haven Haus server Jami Westland when talking about the fact that they’ve only been open for two months.
“It seems like La Verne is a great fit for this restaurant,” Westland said.
“The chilaquiles, our Bacon Avocado Benedict and our Crunchy French Toast are the items that customers seem to order the most,” said Westland as she described the Crunchy French Toast as being their regular french toast battered in corn flakes and then fried.
During a brunch visit at Haven Haus, roughly 25 customers occupied several tables and booths that filled the majority of the dining room.
The space was filled with unique and whimsical decor following a pink and white color palette along with a vast menu placed on every seating arrangement with food items covering the front and back. A drink menu was also placed on every table containing the alcoholic beverages and coffee specialties.
“I got the steak and eggs and it was really good,” customer Eli Moronez said when describing his meal and being accompanied by his grandmother Sylvia Aguirre.
“I’ve been here before and I got the chicken and waffles, the food here is very good,” Aguirre said.
“The atmosphere is very nice and the service is excellent,” Aguirre said. “I go out a lot with my friends and this is a place I would definitely recommend to them.”
