Commissioners and senators of the University of La Verne’s Associated Student Federation (ASF) Forum met Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 9:15 a.m. in the West Dining Room for their general meeting.
The Forum reviewed plans for the Winter Extravaganza, discussed upcoming special elections and allocated funds to the Lordsburg Union Debate Society.
Extravaganza
Activities Board members proposed that the Forum allocate money for the Winter Extravaganza, which will be a combination of the annual Holiday Dinner and formal.
The proposal was approved as submitted, and the Forum voted to allocate $16,000 for the planning and organization of the Extravaganza. It will take place Friday, Dec. 3, from 6 p.m to midnight at the Fairplex in Pomona. Formal attire is required for the event.
Tickets for the Winter Extravaganza may be purchased through Nov. 23 at the Student Center desk or from any ASF member. Tickets are available at a price of $10 per student, while those for faculty and staff members cost $20.

Fund Allocation
The Lordsburg Union Debate Society proposed that the Forum allocate $450 for its Night of Debate, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 7.
Funds were approved as proposed, and the breakdown for the allocation of funds is as follows: $250 for catering, $80 for the printing of tickets and programs and $75 for publicity of the event.
Special Elections
Three Forum positions — vice president of advocacy, public relations chair and senator — are open for the spring semester.
Undergraduate students interested in applying for these positions are encouraged to pick up an application from the Student Center desk beginning Tuesday, Nov. 16. Completed applications are due Friday, Dec. 3, to the Student Center desk by 5 p.m., and elections are scheduled to begin Wednesday, Dec. 8.
Resignation
Dr. Christina Ayala-Alcantar, assistant professor of psychology, announced her resignation as the Forum’s faculty adviser.
Dr. Ayala-Alcantar, who has served the Forum since the spring, stated conflicts with the ASF meetings and her own weekly faculty meetings as reasons for her resignation. This week’s meeting was the last she would attend, so the Forum will begin its search for a new adviser in the near future.
