Spring Choral Concert

The University Chorale and Chamber Singers will perform their Spring Choral Concert, conducted by Assistant Professor of Music James Calhoun, at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Morgan Auditorium. The music department suggests a $5 donation from community members, free for students.

Voices of Revolution

Speech communication students in the Voices of Revolution class will deliver original speeches in the vein of revolutionary movements from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in Morgan Auditorium. Admission is free.

‘No Ordinary Women’

A special Mother’s Day concert featuring Grace Xia Zhao with accompanying musicians will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday in Morgan Auditorium. General admission is $10, students and mothers are $5.

Student film festival

The communications department will host its annual student film festival with two screenings on May 18. The first screening, beginning at 3 p.m., will feature videos produced by communications students during the spring semester. The senior film screening will follow at 7 p.m. Both screenings will be in the Arts and Communi­ca­tions Building, room 212.

Avenue 50

The opening night reception for an exhibition of George Romero’s recent work will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Avenue 50 Studio in Highland Park. For more information, call 323-258-1435 or visit avenue50studio.org.

In the May 11 issue of the Campus Times, the incorrect time was given for the student film festival that was listed in the Happenings on page 11. The senior film screening will start at 6 p.m. Friday and not 7 p.m. The Campus Times regrets the error.

Journalism publications dominate in regional and national contests

The Campus Times and La Verne Magazine have each won the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's Gold Medal award, the association’s top honor for overall journalism excellence – for college Newspaper/Online Hybrid, and college Magazine/Online Hybrid, respectively, for the 2024-25 academic year, the New York-based association announced late last month.
