University updates classroom tech

Several major tech upgrades over the summer have brought classrooms into the twenty-teens, creating a consistent workflow for both students and teachers.

Among the new school-wide upgrades, both students and faculty now have access to Apple TV, HDMI connections and Blu-ray capabilities in every classroom and conference room.

“Senior management was concerned that all the classrooms have consistency in the technology,” said Hany Seyam, senior director of information technology infrastructure.

OIT’s recent changes look to address faculty concerns, creating more uniformity in technology across the board.

“We upgraded the hardware so any professor can walk into pretty much any classroom, and it all has the same look and feel,” said Brian Tresner, director of client services.

For faculty members not familiar with the new technology, OIT is offering training sessions to acclimate staff to the new setup, as well as a variety of online training materials.
