George Cross and Sons presented the Pomona Swap Meet and Car Show Sunday at the Fairplex, which was the ultimate place for car fanatics to show off their rides.
Classic cars, hard to find car parts and accessories were on display and available for purchase. Thousands of original and restored Corvettes, Porsches, Volkswagens and much more were on display and for sale. This is a one-day event that is held seven times a year.
Car junkies strolled down rows of cars, parts and memorabilia to see if they can get their hands on hard-to-find items.
Art Mendoza and Elisa Mendoza are brothers who came to the show to show of their ’67 convertible. They came with long time friend Enrique Olvera.
“We used to ride our bikes over here when we were 16- years-old to look at the cars,” said Art Mendoza, Pomona resident.
“We’ve been friends since we were 13 years old and we always had a thing for cars,” said Enrique Olvera, Pomona resident.
The car show has taken place since 1975, bringing in people from across the country.
“My first car was a ’65 Volkswagen bus, I’ve been into cars ever since,” said Elisa Mendoza, Pomona resident.
With 15 miles of cars and car parts, people watched as classic cars drove by showing off their designs.
Andrew Anderson, Glendora resident, said he likes to walk through the swap meet and drink beer with his friends.
“My dad used to take me to car shows ever since I was a kid and I love coming to see the good deals they have,” Anderson said.
Anderson said he has been into cars ever since he was a young kid, and he hopes to purchase an old Mustang one day.
