The Campus Activities Board hosted a “Camp Neo Leo” welcome week event Aug. 20 on Citrus Lawn.
“Our idea stemmed from Spotify, we know music is such a big thing for students here on campus.” said Isabella Rabelo Dos Santos, one of the CAB event co-chairs and a junior criminology major.
This event specifically was based on Camp Flog Gnaw, an annual carnival-themed music festival put on by Grammy-winning artist Tyler, the Creator.
The first stop for most students was for free cotton candy and popcorn.
The lines for face painting and a special balloon artist were also substantial.
Carnival games included toss and knockdown games, including one that involved knocking out a clown’s teeth.
Naya Chanthayy, sophomore biology major, and Karla Meza, sophomore child development major, said that they came to have fun together after learning about it via CAB’s Instagram.
“(I) thought it was really cute,” Meza said.
Freshman biology major Alexander Espinosa enjoyed the carnival games and more.
“I saw balloon animals, I saw cotton candy, I saw popcorn and face painting, I’m like, ‘oh my gosh, sign me up,’” Espinosa said.
