The La Verne Police Department has no new leads regarding two gunmen who approached a Pomona man and shot him in the right foot Monday night.
The man, 31, is in stable condition, Sgt. Cory Leeper said.
LVPD received calls about the sound of gunshots at the intersection of First Street and B Street around 11:08 p.m., according to the public log.
The Pomona man was walking near the intersection of First Street and A Street when callers reported hearing anywhere between five and 10 gunshots, Leeper said.
Police investigated the scene of the crime Tuesday.
“We were able to retrieve a .45 caliber casing of a handgun and one bullet that hit a residence,” Leeper said. “It’s the same caliber that struck the victim.”
The suspects, both described as Hispanic, got out of the van and waved their guns at the man. They fired at the man, who hid in the yard of a residence until the gunmen drove away. The victim knocked on a resident’s door and the resident drove him to the hospital.
San Dimas Community Hospital staff, who had confirmed with the police department that the victim had been shot in the foot, declined to comment on the man’s condition.
Police are still investigating the crime.
