The Campus Activities Board hosted a cowboy-themed event geared toward commuter students on Wednesday in Sneaky Park.
Roughly 40 students attended the event, which included a raffle, mechanical bull rides and Raising Canes Chicken Fingers.
With country music playing, students mingled and seemed to enjoy the activities. While geared toward commuter students, it was attended by both on- and off-campus residents.
“It’s really good to have the students engage in activities,” said Vallerie Leon, freshman political science major who helped plan the event. “Especially in the middle of the week, in between classes.
Jessica Wirtz, freshman political science major, also enjoyed the activities, and as a commuter herself she said it made her feel “part of the La Verne Experience.”
“I hope that there will continue to be more events for commuter students,” said Alondra Ortega, freshman Spanish major who attended. “It honestly makes me feel like I’m actually a part of campus and not just another student that only comes here for academics.”
