Responding to a letter of Nov. 19, I agree with the city of La Verne that a traffic signal at the intersection of C and Bonita is not justified.
We admire ULV students and faculty sensible enough to park north of Bonita and walk to the campus, avoiding the annual parking fee. There is ample space to park on city streets.
Crossing Bonita at C sometimes requires a short wait until the stream of traffic opens up. There’s nothing wrong in patiently waiting a minute or two until the time is right.
If traffic is heavy, it makes sense to just hike to D, cross at the light, and return to C. Just five minutes! Two daily five-minute walks to from C to D and back aren’t hard and are good exercise.
Finally, installing a four-way traffic light at the intersection would cost more than $100,000. This is a rather large charge on behalf of a few persons who can easily walk a block to D and cross over at that signal.
