The University of La Verne Friendship Club hosted a Jackbox night event May 15 in the Quay Davis Executive Board Room.
The event was designed as a de-stressor at this particularly stressful end-of-semester period.
Tables were set up with wristbands, colorful pencils and pins with positive sayings.
Snacks of apples with peanut butter and caramel were offered.
Jackbox is a game website with a party pack and single games options.
These games have one person play at the host, the guests will connect from their phone with a specific code.
After everyone connects, the host will display a game to the players for an interactive experience. The games are designed to have a mix of humor, quick thinking and creative responses. Some games have writing, drawing, trivia or prediction elements.
These games are usually played in teams or individually and the player with the highest score wins.
The first game played was Trivia Murder Party for which players compete in a deadly trivia game hosted by a trivia-obsessed killer.
For those who answered the question wrong, they face mini games on “The Killing Floor” to avoid being eliminated from the game.
“I come to every meeting to have a break from classes and just work in general,” Fabian Freyer, sophomore studio art major, said. “It’s also my kind of place that appeals to my interest. I think this club does a really good job and it brings people together.”
The next game played was called Survive the Internet for which players would start by answering opinion based questions. The responses would get sent to another player that twists their words out of context to create a totally different post or comment, participants would then vote for the most funny or ridiculous answer.
“This …was my first time playing Jackbox,” said Milena Writes, freshman international business and language major. “It was very enjoyable.”
