The Claremont Colleges Friday Noon Concert on April 17 featured the music of Mozart and Grazyna Bacewicz in Lyman Hall on the Pomona College campus.
Violinist Sarah Thornblade and pianist Genevieve Feiwen Lee performed Mozart’s “Andantino Cantabile,” a Sonata in G Major. And the musicians then played Bacewicz’s Sonata No.4, for an audience of about 80.
After the performance, which received a standing ovation, the musicians reflected on the performance.
“For me, it’s all about capturing the emotion of the piece and reflecting the composer’s message through the piano, which has such a wide range of sounds,” Lee said.
“Sometimes I feel like I don’t know a piece until I perform it in front of an audience, where there is an energy that just truly changes the meaning of music for me,” Thornbalde said.
The Friday Noon Concert series will continue with free concerts open to the public through May 1.
