Members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Choices Women’s Resource Center, a so-called crisis pregnancy center which councils pregnant women against abortion, rally to defund Planned Parenthood Saturday at the Planned Parenthood clinic on Garey Avenue in Pomona.
States across the nation are battling issues that directly affect more than half of the American population; the thread connecting these issues is women.
Rep. Bobby Franklin (R-Ga) proposed an anti-abortion bill that would make miscarriages a felony if the mother cannot prove there was no “human involvement.” The legislation excludes those miscarriages that can be proven accidental and due to the woman’s bodily functions. Anyone who cannot prove their miscarriage was an act of nature could face the death penalty or life behind bars.
I just read your column in the new issue of the Campus Times [“Standing by my convictions,” Sept. 19] and I want to say that I agree with you 100 percent.
Last Wednesday was a sad day for the rights of women. In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court voted to uphold the “partial birth abortion” ban act, and as a result, American women have lost some of their freedom.
