Adjunct faculty members from universities across the country participated in the first National Adjunct Walkout Day Feb. 25 to protest unfair wages and working conditions.

SEIU withdraws union petition

The Service Employees International Union withdrew its petition to represent University of La Verne adjunct faculty, causing the National Labor Relations Board to prohibit the SEIU from filing another petition with ULV adjuncts until January 2015.

Unionization still needed

After a long, difficult and tension-filled year between University of La Verne adjuncts and administrators over the possibility of unionization, the Service Employees International Union withdrew its petition to represent the adjuncts on July 31.

Unfair labor practice charges dismissed

The National Labor Relations Board this week dismissed all six of the unfair labor practice charges against the University of La Verne, which could clear the way for the adjunct faculty’s votes on unionization to be counted.

Tuition to go up 4.9%

University of La Verne administrators announced that traditional undergraduate tuition will increase another 4.9 percent for the 2014-2015 academic year.
