After dropping two straight games and watching its record plummet to 2-4, the University of La Verne football team was seeking to make its third game a charm at Ortmayer Stadium Saturday.
The University of La Verne's football team, on the cusp of becoming an above .500 team could not break that mark Saturday as it faced a big and powerful Cal Lutheran team, falling to the Kingsmen 34-7.
La Verne played the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags last Saturday afternoon and dominated the game, winning 17-6. The Leopards had 348 total yards of offense, compared to 39 by Claremont.
Defeated in its season opener two weeks ago by the Whittier Poets, the University of La Verne football team took on Occidental Saturday night and slayed the Tigers 41-14.
