Several University of La Verne students and officials including President Devorah Leiberman met with state legislators last month in Sacramento to protest another cut in Cal Grants.
Roughly 26,000 California college students wait with bated breath as the state legislature evaluates Gov. Jerry Brown’s budget proposal, which includes a drastic cut to the Cal Grant program.
The state legislature has not yet cut funding from the Cal Grants program, but with the legislature looking to trim public schools, California State Universities and other institutions in the state, it is certainly in danger.
I was, frankly, shocked to read Cherlynn Clark's comment in “ULV fills Cal Grant gap” (Oct. 1) that “It upsets me that ...the state could have delayed my education.”
