After dropping the first two games of the Trinity Classic on Friday, La Verne volleyball beat Schreiner and Texas-Dallas on Saturday to finish 2-2 for the tournament and extended their winning streak to three games as they beat No. 15 Cal Lutheran on the road.
On Tuesday night La Verne clinched a playoff spot by winning its sixth in row against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in three straight sets to earn a berth in the SCIAC postseason tournament.
In an electrifying five-set match, the women’s volleyball team defeated Occidental, the No. 2 team in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, ending the game with a score of 3-2.
It was a rare sight Friday night as the women’s volleyball team lost in straight sets to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. It was the Leopards’ first loss to the Athenas in more than 10 years.
