Debate team ranks 10th at Nationals

The University of La Verne debate squad made a strong effort placing 10th out of 115 schools at the National Championships at Rice University in Houston, Texas, last weekend.

ULV’s debate squad competed yesterday afternoon against Princeton University, ranked No. 2 in the nation, in Founders Auditorium. With exhibition matches at 2 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., the two competitive teams debated the topic of “unconditional faith.”

For the first time since the University of La Verne’s debate team changed its debating style and main focus to parliamentary debate three years ago, the team is ranked fifth in the nation and 40th in the world.
