As the University of La Verne wraps up its first full year back since the COVID-19 pandemic threw the University, with most of higher education, into the unknown territory of remote learning for more than a year, the traditional undergraduate population of this Hispanic Serving Institution has remained mostly intact.
The unpredictable, crashing economy is taking its toll on small, private tuition-driven universities, such as La Verne. In a time where money tends to monopolize many conversations, the future of such schools is a growing concern.
Due to the fact that ULV faculty salaries are 15 percent under the average rate of pay compared to equivalent universities, a concern for faculty salaries was discussed Wednesday at the University Council meeting.
