Gang activity in the La Verne area has touched the University of La Verne community. In January, a ULV student was verbally assaulted on campus by gang members.

Should students have to risk injury to get to class, the library, their residence hall or even the neighborhood convenience store? The obvious answer is no, yet students and faculty alike must gamble with their lives each and every time they need to cross the intersection of Second and “D” Streets.

The lack of parking at La Verne has drawn some audible whines and complaints from students this semester. And none too few have also been given tickets issued consistently by the La Verne Police Department, as well.

“I haven’t gotten a lot of calls from the community, but it’s (LVTV) off to a good start,” said Don Pollock, associate professor of communications.

Following a long period of bidding and contract negotiations, the University of La Verne Communications Department has reacquired the contract to run the city of La Verne’s cable television station, LVTV.
