With the conclusion of 1999 little more than a month away, discussion of the year 2000 and of exactly what the future entails has continued to stir the society in which we live.
Last April, Data-Flex, a new on-line computer system, was installed in Student Accounts. The goal for having the new system was to allow departments all over campus to be able to communicate with each other via computer. Over the summer, the staff in Student Accounts received extensive training on the system. After several months, however, it has not been completely mastered. Therefore, service for students may not be anymore prompt now than it was before the computer system was installed.
To better accommodate the students of the University of La Verne, Student Accounts is continuing to implement a new on-line computer system that will eventually blend with all University computers, providing more a efficient service.
So what does it take to get into a good college? Is it grades? Ambition? Community involvement? Contrary to popular belief, it's none of those things. In fact, it seems that all it takes to be admitted to a university these days is a desktop computer.
