The University of La Verne will celebrate the completion of the new Campus Center with the addition of the Muriel Pollia Sculpture Garden this fall.

A powerful rainstorm blew through the University of La Verne Campus last week, leaving numerous buildings flooded and requiring considerable clean-up.

Because of the current cracks, bumps, bubbles and delamination that have formed in several lanes on the track, La Verne had to forfeit its rights to host the spring 2009 SCIAC championships.

Tucked in the east shadow of the massive Campus Center building project is the Hanawalt House reconstruction. The house is a historic building that nearly burned to the ground from an unknown cause on the very year that it was celebrating its centennial.

University of La Verne President Stephen Morgan has signed La Verne onto the American College and Univer­sity President’s Climate Com­mitment, or the ACUPCC, University officials announced last week.

In the past few weeks, the University of La Verne community has watched the steel frame of the Sarah and Michael Abraham Campus Center building being erected, leaving the campus anticipating its opening for May 2009.
